In the words of George Harrison (The Beatles)
"RING OUT THE OLD - RING IN THE NEW"!
Let's get to the NEW part!  Sooooooooooo what's NEW?
How about what's trending for Interior Design in 2018???  There are a lot of changes ahead in the design world for 2018 - and I can't wait to GAB about them all!

TRENDING 2018
The word on the street topping the charts is "Biophilic Design".
Simply stated the design of bringing the outside inside.  Biophilic design uses natural lighting, living walls, potted plants, wood and stone to create an out-of-doors feeling in a commercial space.  And, get this, it's proven to have a positive impact on well-begin, productivity and creativity..and we are going to see a LOT of it!

So - what else?
#2 on the charts is COLLABORATION, #3 is more relaxed open environments and casual comfortable spaces, #4 - White subway tile is on its way OUT! # shocker, #5 Glass Walls will be HUGE, #6 - Move over Minimalism and make way for ... #7 - Maximalism....WHAT??? Is that really a word? This is the design of contrasting prints and patterns in an "effort of self-expression"". This type of design is going to be really tricky.  #feelingkindofdizzy, #8 - Fewer private offices and lots of shared spaces, #9 - Work/Life Balance will be part of the design criteria, and last but not lease #10 - CONCRETE is going to be everywhere!  #greattexture

Color Forecast for 2018
And the moment we have ALL been waiting for......

According to Pantone, Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.  HOORAY!!  What a wonderful color and it points us toward the future!  We must use it EVERYWHERE!  Ultra Violet will SAVE THE WORLD!!
Image
However, well ALL KNOW that Benjamin Moore would select a totally different color - "Caliente" AF-290 (basically red).  It is strong, radiant and full of energy - that sounds like red...don't you agree?
Image
Sherwin Williams selected 2018 Color of the Year is "Oceanside SW6496".  A rich, bluish-green jewel toned hue.  The color is a fun, bold choice - selected by Sherwin Williams for both its accessibility and statement appeal.
And last, but not least, CMG (Color Marketing Group) International Key Colors for 2018:  "Evolve", "Vapor", "Re-Value", "Enjoy Life".

So there you have it.  And you thought it was just going to be Ultra Violet!  LOL!

The one-and-only Jeremiah Belocura (A+D Specialist with Kershner Office Furniture -
my partner in crime) went to the Philippines this year over the holidays.
I asked him to write a quick summary of his travels which I know you will find most interesting.
Take it away Jeremiah !

This year marked an exciting change from my usual Christmas pilgrimage to my hometown to El Paso, Texas.  I met my parents not in the great Lone Star state, but instead in the land of my birth, the Philippines.
Not one to make things simple, especially with regards to travel, I chose a meandering itinerary that involved "layover sightseeing" in 2 cities that have long been on my bucket list:  Seattle and Seoul.
While no substitute for a proper tour of these two cities, the double overnight layovers provided a spectacular glimpse into the Emerald City and the Land of Morning Calm. Full of expected (and un-expected) sights, sounds and tastes.
Although I reached my final destination of Davao City more than slightly fatigued, the reunion with not just my parents, but also my beloved extended family on both sides (most of whom I have not seen in at least 5 years) revitalized me.
With activities like jet skiing, bike zip lining, nature reserves, open air markets, walking tours and, of course, feasting, the trip has given me a lifetime of treasured memories which left me wanting a much longer stay than the six-day (plus travel) expedition.
The tropical weather certainly beckons to me strongly at the moment, during this time of single-digit temps and below-zero wind chills!
