March 2018
Issue 91
Hello Great Gardener,

Thank you to everyone who came to our Spring Sneak Peak and 60th Anniversary Celebration. If you missed the fun don't worry we will be celebrating all year long.
Image
Spring is here and it is time to turn your thoughts to the garden. Once the ground is workable you can start to plant trees, shrubs, pansies and cole crops.

We have had many shipments come in over the last couple of weeks full of nursery stock. Our fruit trees are here as well as our small fruits.

As always, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, hit reply. I would love to hear from you. Have a great-gardening day.

Sincerely,
Holly

I started at Wilson’s when I was 19 years old, and have been here for over 25 years. In the beginning, I worked on the transplant line. Then I began opening up in the front retail. I am now in charge of cashiers, do retail displays, and assist with buying. I also do pricing, stocking, purchase orders, and help keep the greenhouse looking good.

I don’t have room for a garden where I live, but do grow herbs in containers to use for cooking, and have lots of indoor foliage plants. I do container gardening in the backyard. I love all plants, especially hosta. The bed in front of my house is mostly full of various kinds of hostas. My favorite color combination for the garden is yellow, red, and white. I also do mixes of impatiens in containers.

Hoaxes On The Internet

Image
I am sure you have seen some of these beautiful plants floating around the internet. Who wouldn't love a blue Japanese Maple or Rainbow colored roses?

I am sorry to tell you that they are all hoaxes. None of these colored plants exist in nature. With technology (the magic of photoshop), these days it has become easier to deceive people over the internet. Some flowers can be dyed or painted in rainbow shades, such as the photo of the roses. However, many people are duped by savvy marketing and are disappointed in their end product.

For best results, purchase plants and seeds from reputable sources.
