The month of August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In ever seeking to imitate her virtues through consecration and reparation, we work towards uniting our hearts to Mary's heart and ultimately uniting humankind to God. Our Mother teaches us the way and advocates for her beloved children.

Annual 2000 Hail Marys Day of Devotions
Saturday, August 11th, beginning with 8:00 am Mass
Join us for a Marian day of prayer hosted by the Legion of Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots Praesidium, on Saturday, August 11th, in honor of the upcoming Feast of the Assumption. Many prayers were answered at last year’s 2000 Hail Marys Devotion. Let us again run to Our Blessed Mother and seek her intercession for the many distressing events bombarding the Church, our families, culture, society, nation and world. After Mass, there will be Eucharistic Adoration all day. We will pray the 2000 Hail Marys with 20 petitions (each petition will be followed by 100 Hail Marys). Come for part or all of the day, and remember to bring your rosary. Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged. Lunch, snacks and water will be provided. The bookstore will be open at some point during the day. Contact Diane Groth, President, Legion of Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots Praesidium HERE.

SCHEDULE OF THE DAY
  • 8:00 am: Mass, followed by all day Eucharistic Adoration
  • 8:30 am: 2000 Hail Marys Devotion begins (no breaks and no specified lunch time; take breaks as needed)
  • 3:00 pm: Divine Mercy
  • 6:00-6:30 pm: Closing of Devotions

RECURRING EVENTS

Flame of Love Cenacles
Tues. at 10 am & Thurs. at 10 am and 2 pm
About 30 prayer warriors per week on average are attending the Flame of Love Cenacles and experiencing the power of praying in groups, and more are discovering this devotion every week. They pray specifically for the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts by means of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and, in so doing effect a new Pentecost. You are welcome to come to any one of the cenacles to learn more.
Children's Storytime & Craft
Wednesday, August 8th & 22th, 10:30 am

Bring the little ones to hear Mrs. Ginny read some of the good Catholic children's books which we carry in the store. A fun craft and snack will be provided. RSVP if possible so we are sure to have enough for all of our littlest patrons (but if your plans open up at the last minute, please feel free to drop in. We always have extra just in case). Also, be sure to get on our Storytime email list for reminders.
Blanket Making Workshops
Tuesday, August 14th & 28th, 1-3 pm
Linus Project Blanket Making Workshops are held at 1:00 pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in our Conference room. Come learn to make colorful, knotted fleece blankets for Project Linus, a non-profit organization which provides snuggly handmade blankets to children in need. If you can cut and make knots, you can make a blanket! Material and supplies are provided. Already over 150 blankets have been donated and thank you letters are rolling in!

Stepping Up the Beautifying Efforts
We're grateful for the hard work that volunteers Bob Obst and Frank Caruso put in sanding and staining our weather-worn front steps. They look brand new! Bob had previously replaced the planks on the tops of all the steps and the landing. We are so grateful for our dedicated volunteers who help keep Our Lady's Center running strong.

Generosity from a Humble Soul
Volunteer Dave Fodel splits his time between being an usher at St. Agnes and carrying out various important duties for both the Little Sisters of the Poor and OLC. We are certain he must log far more hours as a volunteer than he ever did in the workforce. Dave has a gentle, quiet nature and avoids attention, but hopefully he will not mind us singing his praises and publicly acknowledging his very generous gift of a fine new altar cloth. Dave let it be known that he would like to replace our older one which was becoming quite threadbare, and we encouraged him to choose one of his liking. This one is embroidered with IHS, a monogram for the Holy Name of Jesus in golden thread. The fine linen cloth had to be laundered first due to a natural shrinkage of 7-8 inches, and we are very thankful to our patron, Ann Boland, who has training and experience with laundering altar linens and who took on the task. As a result, the cloth fits perfectly. Msgr. Lizor offered the first Mass using the new altar cloth, and Dave served. May Dave be abundantly blessed for his very generous donation!

Keep on Storming Heaven for Vocations
Praying for vocations is a huge part of what we do here at OLC, and we want you to know that your prayers, joined to those of the Universal Church, are having an effect. Three years ago, Katherine Rose sang a lovely soprano solo Ave Maria during the May Crowning, just as the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary was crowned. Today, she is discerning a vocation, a journey which she says began in ernest after completing 33 Days to Morning Glory and consecrating herself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Please continue to keep Katherine, who is the niece and Goddaughter of Manager Christine, and all others who are discerning in your daily prayers. And may God bless them all for their surrender and willingness to do the Father's will

Storytime After a Rainy Week
Around a dozen young patrons escaped their houses after a very soggy summer week spent cooped up inside. Their joyful enthusiasm for Mrs. Ginny's Storytime and Craft made for a lively morning. Be sure to get your info added to the contact sheet to receive a reminder email on the day before each Storytime.
