And Sew On...  April 15h, 2019

Did Someone Say
Easter Egg Hunt???

Image
As a kid, my remembrances of our Easter egg hunt were pretty simple. On Saturday my mom would boil 2 dozen eggs and as the eggs would cool off, the excitement would build as she would then mix-up 6 bowls of basic food coloring waiting for our artistic interpretation of egg decorating. Then alongside my big sister and brother, we would gently set an egg in one of the bowls of color with a spoon. Somehow our fingers would generally end up as colorful as our eggs. On Sunday morning I remember waking up early, before church, for our annual Easter Egg Hunt that was limited to the Clarkson living room and kitchen. As we would search many times to no avail, I can still hear my dad say ... "If it were a snake, it would have bit ya!" Finally, we would tally up our totals to 2 dozen and place all the eggs back into the cartons. That was when the egg feast would begin. My dad was the quintessential jokester so I can remember him saying, "Lean over here and I'll show you boys the correct way to crack those eggs." As unassuming and trusting kids, my brother and I would lean his direction with the wide-eyed expectation of learning the finer points of Easter egg cracking. At just that precise moment and our heads at the perfect angle, with one flick of his wrist, my dad's egg would pop us upside the head resulting in a perfectly cracked eggshell. It was a thing of beauty for him! After learning from the master, we would then apply our newly learned skill on each other. I'm not sure what we enjoyed the most, cracking the shells on each other's heads or the feast itself! Probably cracking the shells.
When we got married and started having kids of our own, these same traditions continued with another fun element added to the morning -washing the eggs down with Nestle's Quick - mmm mmm!
I'm sure most of you have similar stories of egg hunts and traditions.
With that in mind, we are starting that same tradition at Arizona Quilts, minus the egg cracking. Starting today we will be having an Easter Egg Hunt all week long. So as you browse our store be on the lookout for hidden eggs. If you happen to find one, you are then eligible to draw from our prize basket! You can only find one a day but we will be having the hunt all week long so we hope to see you more than once.
