Hi, BirdWatchers!

Brrrr! Winter weather has arrived! Temperatures are dipping into the twenties this week, and it's time to protect those birdbaths. Any glass, ceramic or concrete birdbath can crack when temps reach freezing. But, birds still need fresh, reliable water sources, so what do you do? Add an electric birdbath heater/de-icer, and everyone is happy. We have three choices for every budget (and all are cheaper than a new birdbath!) Remember, birdbath de-icers do not "warm" your birdbath like a hot tub; they only heat enough to prevent the water from freezing.

The Bird Bath De-Icer from Farm Innovators is a perennial favorite. Great for shallow baths, it's a flat, foil-wrapped, coil de-icer that uses 44 watts of power. It is our least expensive option at $24.99. One-year warranty. Made in the USA.

The Ice Eliminator Birdbath De-Icer from K&H is our best seller. It is $49.99 and has a 3-year warranty. It can be used in almost any birdbath, uses 50 watts and can be painted to match your birdbath. Made in China.

Our third option is a little bit different. It is the Heated Birdbath Dish from Erva featuring a 60 watt heating element. Made in the USA with a one-year unconditional warranty, this dish is made to fit 14" Erva Hanging and Clamp-on Birdbaths. It is $59.99. Some customers report setting it inside their ceramic or concrete baths, which does work, but we cannot guarantee they will not crack if precipitation gets underneath the dish.
