First Saturday Mass & Devotions
Saturday, August 3rd, 10:30 am Mass
followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and a First Saturday Holy Hour during which Confessions are heard and then closing with Benediction. The Bookstore is open 10-10:30 am and 12-2:00 pm.

What is the Legion of Mary?
Saturday, August 3rd, 12:30 pm
Following First Saturday Devotions, come to the Conference room to watch an introductory video about the Legion of Mary, its history and mission. The Legion of Mary, Our Lady Undoer of Knots Praesidium, which meets here on Friday evenings at 5:30 pm, will be presenting the video and answering any questions you may have. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the women who put on the Annual 2000 Hail Marys Day of Devotions (see below). We at Our Lady's Center are grateful to the Legion for all they do to assist us in promoting love of the Blessed Mother.

"UNPLANNED" Movie Night at OLC!*
Thursday, August 8th
2 Showings: 7:00 pm & 9:00 pm

A free will offering will be collected**

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. She believed in a woman's right to choose, and as one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in about 22,000 abortions. Until the day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby to join her former enemies at 40 Days for Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life advocates in America today. This powerful movie speaks to one of the most polarizing issues of our time. It gives an eye-opening look inside the abortion industry through one woman's inspiring story of transformation.
We are excited to announce that we have obtained a pre-release site license to show this incredible and powerful movie! If you didn't get a chance to see "Unplanned" in the theater, were hesitant to go at the time, or if you would like to view it again in a group setting, this is your chance. August 8th is the feast day of St. Dominic to whom the Blessed Mother gave the Rosary, a powerful weapon for spiritual warfare. St. Dominic, pray for us! Unplanned books are currently available for sale in the Bookstore, and the DVD's will arrive later this month! Reserve yours today.

*Please note that this movie is rated R for some scenes of a graphic nature, so it is not advised that younger children should view it. Also, those suffering from the affects of abortion but who have not yet received counseling or healing are also strongly cautioned. We will have printed resources available at the Center.

**Proceeds to benefit West Baltimore Pregnancy Choices, a local organization which seeks to meet women on the doorstep of despair and give them a safe place, a kind ear, and true alternatives. As our movie showing is the same night as their prayer vigil, we added the second show! As they gear up for the next 40 Days for Life Campaign, West Baltimore Pregnancy Choices invites you to a summer evening of prayer on Thursday August 8th at 7:30 pm at their 2nd floor location in Chin Baptist Mission Church. Sidewalk prayer will follow across the street at Hillcrest, a local abortion provider. They are then planning on attending the 9 pm showing of Unplanned at OLC just 5.5 miles away! All are welcome!

Discovering Saint Sharbel
Perhaps you have noticed a beautiful icon of a white-bearded holy monk that hangs above our counter in the bookstore. This icon of Sharbel, a little-known, devout hermit saint, was given to us by OLC Board Member Jean Ayoub and his wife, Eliana. Our staff has ever since felt watched over and protected by this remarkable saint. As so many of you have inquired as to the identity of this icon, we decided to take the opportunity of his feast day to invite Ghassan Touma of The Family of Saint Sharbel, USA organization to speak. Mr. Touma and the Ayoubs are Lebanese (as is also our long-time dedicated server, David Fodel). Mr. Touma brought a variety of books, pamphlets, and holy cards of the saint, as well as a pamphlet on the Saint Sharbel Shrine (the first in America dedicated to this saint) which has been installed at the National Shrine Grotto in Emittsburg, MD and which houses a first class relic of this incorrupt saint who was so dedicated to Our Lady. We are very grateful to Mr. Touma for sharing his knowledge and devotion with us!

Think Making New Friends is Hard?
Knot So!

The Linus Project Blanketeers of OLC have now knotted around 400 blankets for area children in need! Each time they meet, they welcome new friends, such as Pat, pictured here with her devoted son Mike, and also Karan. They joined Carolyn, Kam, Connie and Gail. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the company and conversation. Fingers are always busy, and we are grateful for every single knot tied and the fingers that tied it because each one is done with love to comfort children who are suffering physically and or emotionally. What a joy-filled ministry.
