IN THE NEWS...

Benedictine Beckons Our Youngest Staff Member
First of all, we are sorry to have to say goodbye to Paul Krebs, who has done a wonderful job working in service to Our Lady these last two and a half years. Paul has been diligent and dedicated in carrying out his duties, which included among other things, lifting, hauling and stocking merchandise in the bookstore, electronically cataloging donations, directing traffic, setting up the temporary altar for last summer's outdoor Masses, and carrying extremely heavy boxes up to the attic and back. Whatever needed to be done, Paul was ready, willing and able. He is mature beyond his years. We wish him well and pray Our Lord's protection upon him as he embarks on his future studies at Benedictine College this fall.

New Members Join Our Team
OLC welcomes Paul's replacement, Kevin M., who has been coming with his family to OLC for years and has now completed his training. Already, he has shown himself be a quick study, a diligent worker, and just as polite as can be. We are also excited to introduce Sister Mariett (shown below), who has joined us as a part-time employee. Sr. Mariett's order is the Sisters of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a most suitable and fitting order for us to be associated with during this Year of the Blessed Sacrament. Sr. Mariett is a delightful addition to our Center, with always a pleasant smile and kind word and never an idle moment. We are grateful to have her on staff, and we are sure you will enjoy getting to know her. Sister Mariett is in need of a reliable vehicle so she can commute to and from OLC from her residence in Catonsville. As used vehicles are quite elevated in price at this time, we are hoping to help with a connection. Please contact us if you know of a way to help her.

Children's Storytime Returns
Mrs. Ginny and the rest of us were overjoyed to welcome back familiar little faces and to meet new ones as well, as we once again opened up the conference room to our littlest and most enthusiastic patrons. It also happened to be Sr. Mariett's first week working at OLC, so she got to join in with the activities. She is a natural around children and will have much involvement assisting Ginny in the months ahead. Children's Storytime and Craft is a twice a month adventure in safe, friendly, wholesome, faithful fun.

The Year of St. Joseph coincided for a time with the emergence of the 17 year cicadas. Swarms of large but benign insects invaded every inch of property and showed little reverence for where they chose to rest. This photo seems to capture St. Joseph's forbearance and humility in having to share his special year with an insect! One year ago, we were celebrating Mass outside due to the pandemic. If Brood X had emerged last year instead of this year, we are not quite so certain outdoor Masses would have been that well attended. There is much to be thankful for!
