WHAT IS THE ROSARY CONGRESS?

The Archdiocese of Baltimore is presenting its sixth-annual Rosary Congress Oct. 1-7 as a way of encouraging people to pray for peace, grow in faith and develop a deeper relationship with Christ.

The events commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s appearance to three small shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. Mary promised that if the world would repent, follow Christ and pray the rosary daily, peace would follow.

The Rosary Congress will kick off with a pilgrimage walk at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore. Participants will gather Oct. 1 at 7:30 a.m. at the cathedral and begin the walk following an opening prayer. The Rosary Congress will then open with a 10 a.m. Mass at the Baltimore Basilica.

The basilica will offer Masses, spiritual talks, opportunities for confession and perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the week. Several other parishes will also offer special events and adoration throughout the week. The rosary will be prayed every hour on the hour.
