Please join us this Saturday for a sampling of four decadent and delectable Brie-style cheeses. The name word Brie may conjure up one specific image, but these four cheeses will show you how unique different types may be!

Pico is a delightful miniature round of goat cheese which arrives in it's own convenient wooden box! Pico comes from Perigord, home of French truffles and a few remarkable goat cheese producers (the Loire Valley being the typical source of all things chevre). It is often compared to Camembert, but this cheese stands out on it's own; sold young, it develops even more as it ages, changing into a more complex and pungent cheese. Serve on a cheeseboard with grapes and pears, and pair with Sancerre or a fruity, yeasty Champagne.

Moses Sleeper is a Jasper Hill Creamery original, made with the milk of Ayrshire cows, in the tradition of classic French Brie. It was named for Moses Sleeper, a Revolutionary War scout killed alongside his comrade, Constant Bliss, while defending a blockhouse along the Northeast Kingdom's legendary Bayley Hazen Military Road (Jasper Hill also has cheeses named for Constant Bliss and Bayley Hazen). With its decadent, buttery, creamy, and nutty flavors, this cheese pairs well with rose wine, sparkling whites, or cider. Serve with Marcona almonds, dried fruit, fig jam, and charcuterie.

Brebirousse d'Argental is luscious and silky enough for brie-lovers, and sheepy and full-flavored enough for the most adventurous palate. Made in Lyon, France, of pure pasteurized sheep milk—richer and creamier than cow’s milk—Brebirousse (literally: red sheep) is everything we could want in a cheese. Complex and buttery, this cheese goes beautifully with sweet dates or quince paste. For a savory accompaniment try serving with Saucisson Sec. Pair with Pinot Noir, ciders, and farmhouse ales.

Fromage de Meaux is a pasteurized and slightly more aged version of AOC certified Brie de Meaux. It is made in the Brie region of France; so if you've ever wanted to know what "real" Brie tastes like, what the French think of when they think of Brie, this is the closest you will get without violating the FDA's legislation! Rich and luxurious, and not too buttery or salty, this is one of the finest examples of expert cheesemaking. It is a perfect partner for Champagne, but also pairs well with red Bordeaux or Bourgogne (Burgundy). It can be served in a variety of ways: on a cheeseboard with juicy fruits, honey, or sweet preserves, as part of a meal with French ham (like our best selling Petite Ham & Brie sandwiches!), or as part of an indulgent dessert course with dark chocolate and nuts.
