WE STAND WITH REFUGEES

Finders Keepers is proud to employ a diverse group of people, including refugees from South Africa, The Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. We support the right of all people to seek refuge and we are happy to be in a community that is so wonderfully enriched with diversity and love.

We would like to introduce you to a few of our employees who have made incredible journeys to find refuge and make a life for themselves and their families within our community.

Meet Ndoole
My name is Ndoole Hangi, I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I came to America in 2014 with my three young brothers, two are in the 11th grade and one is a freshman.  When I came here, life wasn't easy: I never slept, over-thinking was my closest friend, I was so stressed. Since the day I got the job at Finders Keepers, I feel comfortable. My brothers are happy, and I am happy. Finders Keepers has helped a lot. It's been one year and five months working for Finders Keepers, and I can't stop thanking Mrs. Bonnie for the love she has shown to me and my young brothers. I am happy because I now have a lot of working experience, and I've learned love. They have love for everyone: people from different cultures and countries. I am very happy because we all work together in unity and with love.

Meet Roda
My name is Roda Abdi. I moved to the United States one year ago. I moved from South Africa because of fear and a longing for better days. Finders Keepers is actually my first job both here and back home. It has given me experience in the workforce and skills that will be useful in the future. Apart from work, Finders Keepers has given me friends. I've learned that it's not just a job but a privilege to wake up everyday and go to a place where everyone genuinely cares for each others well being. Love you all.

Meet Moma
Hello, my Name is Moma Sayplay. I am from a small country on the western coast of Africa called Liberia. Liberia has been devastated by one of the bloodiest civil wars in African history. It lasted for almost a decade. My family and I were fortunate enough to get relocated to the United States through a wonderful organization known as IRC (International Rescue Committee). The entire process took 2-3 years of screenings and interviews...
Visit our blog here to continue reading Moma's story.

We are honored to work beside our amazing co-workers and humbled by the strength that they carry quietly within themselves. It is a privilege to be in their company.

To be called a refugee is the opposite of an insult; it is a badge of strength, courage, and victory.    - Tennessee Office for Refugees

Looking for something to do this Sunday?

Wells for Hope is hosting their 2nd Annual Walk for Water and Health this Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 2 - 4 PM. The walk will be approximately 3 miles, beginning at the Carter Center and following a path through Freedom Park.

With the help of friends of Wells for Hope, Majok Marier has succeeded in bringing water wells to three villages. Access to clean water means that a clinic is now possible to serve the needs of villagers who must travel miles to the nearest town, usually on foot, to seek medical help. So please, come walk with Majok and help raise funds for a much needed health clinic to serve remote villages in South Sudan. A $10 donation is suggested and can be made at wellsforhope.org or brought to the event.
